Movement, Exercise, Fitness!
Every time I step away from this world, due to transition, an injury, etc., I forget how much I just. love. it.
I know for many people exercise is daunting, a blah word that creates a negative reaction, or an “I have to get this done” sort of task, but truly, it’s just about moving your body. Especially the older we get!
You don’t need to be the next Crossfit champion, doing hot yoga sculpt 6x/week, or running miles upon miles. Yes, all of those things are lovely depending upon your joy-filled form of movement, but it isn’t necessary to go to the extreme (and back) to remain healthy. It’s about living a lifestyle where movement is simply part of your every day. Walking while listening to a podcast, swimming with your kiddos, jogging a mile with the pups, or lifting light weights. 🎧 🏊🏼♀️ 🎾🤸🏼♀️
In simplistic terms written in the FIT Initiative material for children (a previous position I held), “moving powers your body and brain”. It’s a reminder to us all that we need to get up, get outside, and move our bodies so our mind can also catch a break. It boosts energy and creates the feel-good high so you are able to “keep at it” with a positive attitude. It builds brain cells so we can continue to challenge ourselves, learn, and grow! Yes, even as adults! 🧠 💪🏼 😊
The most basic forms of exercise will give you the flexibility, mobility, and then the strength you need to maintain your personal level of wellness. ❤️ Everyone is different, every BODY is different, so there are many forms of playful movement to try! Really, there is no excuse…just move a little, and have fun while you’re at it! 🤪
